Quilting Tools and Notions

Quilting is one hobby that comes with tons of tools! Fortunately you don't need to have them all in order to make excellent quilts.

Because there are so many different steps to making a quilt, I've split the tools and notions you need into sections too. The full list of everything you'll need to make a quilt is at the bottom of this page.

Here's a list of all the tools you need for creating a quilt, from cutting out fabric to basting and quilting the finished quilt!

  1. Self healing cutting mat
  2. 45 mm or 60 mm Rotary cutter
  3. 12" Square Rotary Cutting Ruler
  4. Invisible Grip, Sandpaper dots, or other gripping material
  5. Sewing machine
  6. Piecing Foot for your machine
  7. Scissors
  8. Straight Pins
  9. Pincushion
  10. Iron and Ironing Board
  11. Bent Safety Pins
  12. Kwik Klip
  13. Basting Spray (alternative to 10 & 11)
  14. Walking Foot for your machine
